Three-hundred twenty years ago today the first newspaper was published. Both the first and the last copy of Publick Occurances Both Foreign and Domestick made its debut at the London Coffee House in Boston. It was deemed offensive by the authorities and suppressed immediately. Let us not take for granted –ever– the provisions of the very 1st amendment regarding speech and the press. It is important and necessary for a free society and a free people to be able to exchange ideas in order to better able understand and therefore live with one another.

Keep open dialogue and newspapers alive. Buy and read a local paper today and everyday.
