Today, civil rights and women’s rights activist Dorothy Height will be laid to rest. Mrs. Height met the Reverend Martin Luther King when he was only 15 years old and spent the majority of her 98 years fighting for unity between the races. She was the only woman on the stage when Dr. King gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech. Her life inspired many and is a testament to what one person can do when they decide to promote love and unity instead of hatred and division.
“No one will do for you what you need to do for yourself. We cannot afford to be separate. . . . We have to see that all of us are in the same boat.” declares Mrs. Height.
If the boat is rocked and we’re all in it; won’t we all fall out?
Peace and love.
